This is Byron Baldwin and son-in- law Chase. It was his and his grandaughter Madison’s birthday. Byron suffered 2 Hemoragic strokes on October 22, 2007, and October 30, 2007. Byron was a Police Officer, He served almost 30 years. He was a patrolman, taught driving, chemical agents, and gun saftey. He was on call 24/7 and would help anyone. He was also a CSI, this was the last position he served in before his strokes. His wife Karen is deaf without her cochlear implant, and takes care of him without any help. Byron is unable to stand or walk, and his speach is very limited. His wife must lift him to sit in his chair, and also must pick him up to get in the vehicle. If they fall it could be bad for them both. Travel is very limited even around town. If it is raining they can’t even go to church, as Byron’s chair is electric, and must sit on a lift on the back of the vehicle. DOT has stopped them many times because the chair is so large, it weighs 360 lbs. It is special built to Byron’s many problems. Byron solved many casses and his work to solve crimes helped put many behind bars they may have not been caught without his dedication to the public. To Byron it was not just a job it was His job to speak for the victims that could no longer speak for themselves. When Byron was on a case he sometimes would not even come home, but would catch a cat nap at his desk, and eat a snack from the snack machine in the police station. Please consider him for this vehicle it would help him and his wife get their life back on track and let them go back to being able to get out and enjoy what life he has left.
