My daughter, Ali, also known as Angel Ali to many is my biggest HERO. Ali was born very healthy without a disability. She reached all of her milestones. Ali could dance, sing, play, draw & her favorite thing was playing her harmonica. Life was wonderful & we had just learned to be pottytrained at 3 years old when the ugly Battens monster reared his ugly head. Ali began having over 100 seizures a day which would cause her to fall & bust her face. At this time, we did not know what was wrong & tried several different medicines that did not work. During this time, Ali regressed quickly to a 12-18 mnth level. She lost her ability to walk & talk. We fought for 2 years to get a diagnosis for Ali & received one on July 15, 2011. A day I will never forget as we were so glad that we now had some answers but I never in my wildest dreams did I expect what they told me. Ali had Infantile Batten’s Disease, a rare, fatal, terminal neurological disease which robs children of their abilities to walk, talk, eat & even see leaving them a vegetable to die. This is a horrific disease. Ali has the most rarest form on Battens & has been given a life expectancy of 8-10 years old. Ali fights everyday for her life. I am a single mom & I have dedicated my life to helping my baby. Doctors said that all we can do is take her home & make her comfortable as there are no treatments & there is no cure to help her. Just to give her the best quality of life & cherish everyday. It is my mission to give her the best life that she so much deserves as this disease steals her away. Ali has a wheelchair now but I have no way to transport her in it so we have to be creative at getting her to her doctor appointments, etc. Ali weighs 58 lbs & is getting bigger everyday & she needs a wheelchair accesible van. You can help Ali acheive a freedom by voting for her today to win a wheelchair accessible van that will allow her to live the best quality of life. What life she has to live. Thank you so much for voting for our Angel Ali!
