Hannah is a beautiful 9 year old who suffers from cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. Confined to a wheel chair and non-verbal our little girl has a way to light up any room. She will not let her disability stop her. In the past year Hannah has had several surgeries to correct her hip which included breaking both femurs and her pelvic bone she also had a medicine pump placed. For the past 2 years Hannah has been dealing with a severe seizure disorder, having significant grand mal seizures and multiple hospital stays. Despite this she still smiles even when she is in obvious pain.
Hannah has two older sisters who keep her involved, Hannah loves to do cheer leading with her sisters. She has a blast swimming, the one place she is free to move like everyone else. Hannah is quite popular, all of the bus drivers know Miss Hannah. For a child who is non-verbal she sure knows a lot of people and she remembers every face. When she spots someone she knows she is sure to let us know by squealing.
Hannah loves to be in the van. She loves that she can sit up high and see everything.
Riding around is a joy to her but also a pain. She has to be lifted into a specialized car seat to go anywhere. Then Mommy and daddy have to load her bulky power chair using lawnmower ramps. One weekend we borrowed a van from a dealer and she loved the ramp but we couldn’t get it.
Hannah had the pleasure of being an Easter Seals Walk ambassador a few years ago because of her charm. Now each year Hannah and her family go to Philadelphia to take part in the walk. Though her disability may limit the things she can do Hannah always has loud screech to share to show her displeasure about not doing what everyone else is doing, so everyone finds a way to include her. From events at church to school and extracurricular activities. Sometimes it is difficult to include her because of transportation but mommy and daddy make it happen.
