This summer, I have the privilege of backpacking across Europe with some dear friends. The trick is, I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy and am wheelchair-bound, so hiking is not my forte. Not a problem! In this case, to make the adventure happen, I will actually be the backpack, carried by my friends through the countryside’s of France, England, and Ireland. What we expected to be a quiet trip among friends has grown into an international press bonanza! It has been so encouraging to see the world come around our story and take such interest in the love my friends are exemplifying through this act of self-sacrifice.
Our hope, after the trip, is to produce a book and documentary film about the experience. Taking these mediums with us, we’d like to tour the U.S., telling our story and encouraging others to live life to the fullest, and help one another live life to the fullest.
With these goals in mind, a new and reliable vehicle could make all the difference in the world. We have a story to tell, and we need a way, practically, to get out there and tell it.
