My son Landon is a true hero in my book. He is 3 years old and was diagnosed with Cornelia De Lange Syndrome shortly after birth. It is hard to imagine when you see the beautiful smile on his face how much pain he has endured in his short 3 years. He has had open heart surgery, 6 nasal surgeries, a vp shunt to help with fluid in his brain,a tracheostomy and oxygen for breathing difficulties, and a feeding tube for nutrition. He has also been hospitalized numerous times for infections due to his poor immune system. He is seen by more than 10 specialists that are located about 75 miles from home. As he gets older and bigger traveling has become more difficult. He has alot of equipment that must come with him at all times including his suction machine, oxygen tank, pulse ox monitor,go bag, feeding pump, and supplies. He also needs someone right next to him for suctioning, and in a small car that has become very difficult, especially considering that I have to squeeze between 2 carseats and suction during the long trips. He has a wheelchair that is very comfortable for him and it would make his life so much more comfortable for him if he could go straight from the house into the vehicle, instead of him getting stressed out from trying to get him situated in the car. Although Landon has gone through so much he is still a happy little boy. He is so patient and loving. He loves to just sit on my lap and be held. He truly deserves this, if I could afford a van I would have definitely bought one for him, but financially that is not possible for us. I love my little boy so much and this truly would be a dream come true if you pick my little hero.
