Lucas and Amber Houstin

Toledo, OH

Entry Photo for Lucas and Amber Houstin - Toledo, OH

Lucas and Amber were born with a rare genetic disorder causing their brain stem to be undeveloped. This left them with cerebral palsy, seizures, severe scoliosis and other medical problems. They have been in the hospital multiple times with seizures and both had back surgery to place rods along their spines. We almost lost Amber during the surgery due to blood loss and low blood pressure. Both Lucas and Amber have struggled and overcome many setbacks. They inspire and bring joy to every one that knows them. They are truly my HEROES. Lucas and Amber live at home with their mom and sister. They had another brother that passed away at age 2 from down syndrome and heart defects. Lucas and Amber would really love to receive a van that would accommodate their wheelchairs. It would enable them to get to doctor appointments, go on outings such as the park or zoo and to attend family parties especially during the holidays. Our family can not afford a van to transport them. It would mean so much to them if they could get out and participate in activities and family events. Please consider our special brother and sister Heroes for a new van. Thank You!
